DESCRIPTION:\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\nHow can we move beyond both the fascist “alt-right” and a bankrupt (neo)liberalism toward a collectively liberated society with justice and democracy for all? Join us for a follow-up event to "Resistance in the Time of Trump" focusing on organizing\, action\, and building a radical\, grassroots resistance in dangerous times.\n\nThe event will begin with short presentations (5 minutes each) from invited speakers talking about specific social justice projects\, organizations\, and initiatives happening right now in Halifax and the region. The panel will be followed by facilitated break-out discussion/working groups with the aim of letting people connect with the initiatives most interesting to them. The focus of the event is connecting people with the fabric of struggle already present here.\n\nInvited speakers and workshop facilitators:\n\nJackie Barkley and Ben Sichel (anti-racist and long-term organizing)\nDoreen Bernard (Mi'kmaq resistance and the struggle against Alton Gas)\nArt Bouman and Kellan Roy (Autonomy East)\nLarry Haiven (solidarity with workers and labour struggles)\nAlex Khasnabish (movements and what it means to win)\nAlia Saied (No One Is Illegal\, migrant justice)\nIngrid Waldron (Environmental Noxiousness\, Racial Inequities & Community Health Project)\nArdath Whynacht (mental health and trauma care in our movements)\n\nFree and open to all.
