SUMMARY:Graphic Design for Activists: A crash-course on InDesign and Illustrator
DESCRIPTION:The Radical Imagination Project is pleased to be partnering with Trade School Halifax on a new collaboration: the TRADE FOR CHANGE workshop series\, aimed at building skills and capacities among activists\, movements and communities in Halifax.\nAll workshops are free and open to the public. Facilitators may request you offer some good or service in compensation for their efforts. Please pre-register at Trade School Halifax.\nWe are pleased to be able to facilitate your participation by offering complimentary bus tickets and childcare reimbursement.  Bus tickets will be available at the event. If you would like to access the childcare fund ($15/h)\, please email tradeschoolhalifax@gmail.com before the day of the event.\nWorkshop description:\nLearn the bare-bones basics of Illustrator and Indesign\, the leading software professionals and non-professionals use to design great posters\, flyers and logos. We'll cover making and editing vectors in Illustrator and basic layout for a poster in Indesign. If you don't own a copy of the Illustrator and InDesign please download the free 30-day a trial version from Adobe Creative Suite prior to the workshop so you can follow along!\nWorkshop facilitator:\nBorn under prairie skies Emily Davidson moved east to attend NSCAD University (BFA ’09). Emily was trained as a printmaker. She cut her\nteeth as an activist at the Student Union of NSCAD (SUNSCAD). She was came to graphic design by making the materials for various rallies\nand campaigns in Halifax. She is an avid letterpress printer\, screen printer\, zine maker and artist. She currently combines her passion for\nfighting against tuition fees and making beautiful posters as the Graphic Designer and Campaigns Coordinator at the Dalhousie Student Union.
