SUMMARY:How to give a workshop (a workshop)
DESCRIPTION:The Radical Imagination Project is pleased to be partnering with Trade School Halifax on a new collaboration: the TRADE FOR CHANGE workshop series\, aimed at building skills and capacities among activists\, movements and communities in Halifax.\nAll workshops are free and open to the public. Facilitators may request you offer some good or service in compensation for their efforts. Please pre-register at Trade School Halifax.\nWe are pleased to be able to facilitate your participation by offering complimentary bus tickets and childcare reimbursement.  Bus tickets will be available at the event. If you would like to access the childcare fund ($15/h)\, please email tradeschoolhalifax@gmail.com before the day of the event.\nWorkshop description:\nAfter the Tatamagouche Free School some of us thought that we could use a workshop on how to give a workshop. If our workshop-giving skills were more effective\, we’d have a better time sharing our numerous talents\, interests and skills in a way that doesn’t replicate the power\nrelations too-often present in our normal learning environments. Moreover\, if more of us felt qualified to lead workshops for our neighbours\, we might continue to grow culture of sharing. In this workshop we’ll talk about what makes a good workshop\, and what makes a bad workshop\, and\nwe’ll brainstorm ideas for new workshops and structures for what those workshops might look like. Bring your memories from past workshops and ideas for future workshops.\nWorkshop facilitator:\nZachary Gough is an artist and student/teacher who works collaboratively and responsively with other artists\, community groups and organizations to promote alternative economic systems and toward deconstructing the capitalist viral value paradigm and its manifestations. He often uses participatory and immaterial media\, such as radio and performance\, to address materialist concerns\, such as labour\, power\, debt\, education\, and liberation. Zach is a graduate of the art and social practice MFA program at Portland State University in Oregon. zacharygough.ca
