| FreeEvent Navigation
In order to change the world, movements and activists have to move beyond simply responding to crisis after crisis, outrage after outrage. This workshop offers practical tools for thinking strategically about grassroots campaigns. It includes a discussion about:
- How to build activism and organizing on core values and transformational demands,
- How to identify and approach allies and opponents, and
- How to select tactics appropriate to the movement’s broader strategic goals and unifying vision.
This workshop is open to both individuals as well as small groups working on common projects, but all participants must have a social justice orientation.
Participants should bring a contribution to a vegan lunch potluck.
Participants must pre-register atĀ tradeschool.coop/halifax
Facilitator: Max Haiven is co-director of The Radical Imagination Project and teaches cultural studies and political economy at the NSCAD University. He has been organizing and reflecting with social movements for most of his life.
